Lord Ganesha, the great deity of success and remover of obstacles, is revered widely throughout Thailand — especially among artists, business people and students. Yet worshipping him properly involves details every devotee should know.
Offerings for Lord Ganesha
Lord Ganesha is especially fond of sweets. Favoured offerings include modak or Thai khanom tom dumplings, cow’s milk, fruits such as banana, sugarcane and coconut, and red flowers or marigolds. Above all, never offer meat of any kind.
The Essential Mantra
The most widely chanted mantra is "Om Shri Ganeshaya Namaha", recited 3, 5 or 9 times while holding a clear, specific wish in mind. According to belief, you should state your full name and your desire plainly — and once the wish is granted, remember to return with a thanksgiving offering.
Worshipping at Home
Place the Ganesha statue in a suitably elevated position, facing the door or an auspicious direction, and keep the altar clean at all times. The Eternal Happiness Edition Ganesha by Highness Amulet has passed the full Deva Phisek consecration and is available in 5-inch and 7-inch sizes in a choice of materials — see the Sacred Amulets page.
